Description
Orphic Women’s Sky Blue Piqué Polo — cut for a woman, not graded down from a man’s.
Most women’s polo shirts are a men’s block shrunk a size. It is why they pull across the back, gape at the placket and finish too long. Ours is drafted from its own pattern — a narrower shoulder, a redrawn armhole and a length that settles at the hip — in the same combed cotton piqué and the same sky blue as the menswear, with navy tipping at the collar and cuffs.
Why this women’s sky blue piqué polo is different
Pale blue is easy to wear and easy to ruin in the making. Too grey and it looks washed out; too bright and it looks synthetic. Ours sits between the two, which is the point of a colour you intend to wear twice a week rather than twice a year. The navy tipping does the work a pattern would, without the noise.
The difference is a quarter of an inch. An armhole that lets the arm move without the whole shirt shifting. A shoulder seam that sits on the shoulder, not below it. A body that skims rather than clings. None of it announces itself, and all of it is why the polo reads considered rather than ordinary.
Fabric and construction
Combed cotton piqué, chosen for its open weave. Combing removes the short fibres before spinning, so the surface stays smooth through repeated washing instead of pilling at the shoulders and underarms. The piqué texture — a fine raised waffle — holds the cloth away from the skin in heat, which is what makes it wearable through a Lahore summer. It is the reason piqué has been the standard polo cloth for a century.
Collar and cuffs are ribbed and tipped in navy, holding their shape rather than relaxing into the wash. The placket is finished flat and left open — no buttons to sit wrong under a jacket.
Fit and sizing
Cut close through the shoulder and clean through the body, ending at the hip. A considered fit, not a tight one. If you are between sizes or prefer room, take the larger. Full measurements are on the size guide, taken from the garment laid flat rather than from a body, so you can compare against a polo you already own. Available in S, M and L.
How to wear the women’s sky blue piqué polo
With white or stone trousers in July, tucked or loose. With denim and flats the rest of the year. Under a blazer when the collar needs to hold its own against a lapel. It earns its place by refusing to be an occasion — it works when a shirt is too much and a t-shirt is not enough, which is most days of the year in this climate.
Fabric and care
Caring for a women’s sky blue piqué polo is simple, and doing it properly is most of what keeps it looking new:
- 100% combed cotton piqué
- Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, with like colours
- Do not bleach — it will attack the navy tipping
- Reshape and dry flat in shade; a hanger will stretch the shoulders of a wet polo permanently
- Warm iron on the reverse, avoiding the embroidery
- Do not tumble dry

Why buy from Orphic
We make a small number of pieces and we make them properly. Every polo is checked before it leaves us — collar set square, embroidery aligned, seams clean. If something is wrong when it arrives, tell us and we will put it right. That is an easy promise to keep at six products and an impossible one at six hundred, which is why we intend to stay small.
