A shoe is judged at six months, not on the day it arrives. By then the leather has either creased into shape or cracked, the sole has either worn evenly or gone at the heel, and the last shape has either held or collapsed.

Orphic shoes are built around that test: leather selected for how it ages, lasts drafted for width as well as length, and construction that can be resoled rather than replaced. A small number of styles, in colours that will still look right in three years. Made in Pakistan, delivered nationwide.
